Do you know how magical September can be here in Nettuno, Roma?

September weather in Italy, in fact, can reveal its best side: pleasantly warm temperatures, blue sky, stunning sunsets and a chill wind in the evenings to wear that mid-season cosy jumper or wrap yourself in a warm, soft blanket while sitting on the decking of your lodge and looking at the stars.

Although we love the buzz and the energy that August and its tourists bring, September shows a calmer, more relaxed way to enjoy our Vawidi site and the surroundings.

In this month, we welcome slow tourism: here in Nettuno, we recommend making the most of the sunshine and enjoy our less busy beaches and blue sea.

During the night, you can enjoy an evening stroll on the ancient walls overlooking the harbour or in the medieval town centre.

Another town that cannot be missed, only few minutes away, it’s the lovely Anzio: beautiful sandy beaches, little shops and lots of nice restaurants overlooking the harbour which will serve some fresh fish meals and classic local food.

You cannot miss the iconic landscape of the Torre Astura, a fortress in the middle of the sea embedded in the archaeological area of an ancient Roman villa. There are lots of free beaches where to relax and have a swim in these blue waters.

A trip to Rome is highly recommended, especially during this time of the year. Big queues to enter in museums and churches have consistently reduced, the archaeological sites benefit from a smaller crowd of tourist and nothing beats an Aperitivo in the beautiful golden hour of a Roman sunset.

SPORT OR NATURE LOVER

September gifts us with some stunning colours and perfect weather to explore the natural parks or practice sports. Enjoy trekking or hiking in the Castelli Romani National Park, where you can choose among naturalistic, archaeological or landscape routes.

If you fancy paddling in a lake, only 40 minutes away, there is a Kayak Club in Castel Grandolfo that will show you the beauty and the secrets of Lake Albano.
